Barry Dean, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, teamed up with his brother to design a high-tech hardware and software platform that mounts to power wheelchairs and provides stability, security and connectivity to their owners. Dean was inspired to take this action after seeing the injuries suffered when a friend's mother tipped her wheelchair over on a ramp. He was concerned about his own daughter Katherine, who suffers from cerebral palsy and has been a wheelchair user her entire life. The technology Dean designed will enable his daughter and thousands of other wheelchair users to have more independence and provide peace of mind to them and their families.
