In 2013, Camden, N.J., disbanded its police force due to corruption. The city rebuilt its force with a community focus that has resulted in a 95% drop in excessive force complaints against police and a 42% decrease in violent crime. While the police force doesn't reflect the racial demographics of the city, its community-oriented policing methods have greatly improved relationships between the police and the residents.
