Sesame Street friends joined CNN's Van Jones and Erica Hill for a virtual town hall earlier this month, where children asked civic leaders tough questions and dialoged with beloved characters like Elmo, Big Bird and Rosita. The TV special, entitled "Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism," fielded questions starting with Elmo's dialog with a dad asking, "What's a protest?" and "What's racism?" to everyday kids asking experts: "What can we do to help stop racism?" "Why do people have different skin colors?" "Nana protested in the 1960s -- why do we have to do this again and again?" "Is it safe to go outside?" "Will a police officer harm me because of the color of my skin?" "Who do we call when the police are being unsafe?"
