The Shillong Chamber Choir is known for their talent and reach. During the lockdown the group is not just making music but reaching out to people in need with something beyond their art. Early in April, the choir members conceived and started a grocery delivery service, named after the founder of the choir - Uncles Delivery Service. They converted their 800-sq-feet practice hall into a warehouse out of which groceries are supplied to more than 500 families. They are meeting the needs of the elderly, the sick and others who cant go out shopping in this difficult situation and also helping local vendors who are not able to sell their fresh produce, by sourcing from them and ensuring timely deliveries. While their roles have now shifted, say from pianist to in-charge of meat department; they continue their work with the same passion and not without some music!
