In a remote interior district of Trichy, Tamil Nadu, a poor pregnant lady, in labour, reached the district hospital 7km away with great difficulty. The doctors said she needed a unit of blood which however was unavailable due to covid-19 lockdown. Her husband stepped out in desperate need. He was questioned by a police constable for breaking the lockdown rules but as soon as the constable heard the story, he himself came forward to donate blood as he was a match. His compassion doesnt end there. On hearing the story, the constable was rewarded Rs. 11000 by his superiors, which he gifted to the family for meeting their medical expenses.
