In this moving piece, author and poet Heather Lanier shares with us her experience with her daughter, born 8 years ago, who was diagnosed with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic condition that makes every milestone in the development of a child uncertain: learning to walk, eat, talk. None of that could be taken for granted for her baby girl. It was this very uncertainty that uncovered an infinite tenderness within herself. She intertwines her story with what we are living through globally now during this pandemic, inviting us to reflect on the fact that maybe we have to surrender to uncertainty to be able to enjoy the gift of any moment.
