"This can't be true," said 100-year-old Tom Moore, the war veteran who raised tens of millions of pounds for NHS charities by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday in April. Initially setting out to raise 1,000 pounds for NHS charities -- by walking laps around the 25-meter loop in his garden in Bedfordshire -- Captain Tom eventually raised 32,794,701 pounds from more than 1.5 million supporters. He was made an honorary colonel on his 100th birthday and is now "delighted and overawed" by being awarded a knighthood from Britain's Queen and prime minister.
