C E Chakunny, who leases out more than a 100 buildings across Kozhikode, Kerela, to different shop owners, realized that many of them were unable to pay the rent on time. He found out that his tenants were not getting enough customers and had taken loans to pay their employees. He decided to exempt all his tenants from paying the rent for an entire month. He explained, I know the pain a person owning a business goes through during such trying times. I was in the same position a few years back and I realized that it was time for me to do whatever I can to help.
